Frequently Asked Questions

Why Disc Golf?

Disc golf is a low-impact game that can be played for an entire lifetime. Designed with everyone in mind, disc golf can be played by people with disabilities and people non-disabled. Lastly, disc golf is one of the most affordable sports to play because courses tend to be free and discs can cost as low as $7. Overall, disc golf is the perfect game for everyone.

What are the benefits of a disc golf program?

Introducing a disc golf curriculum at your school brings many benefits. Disc golf is like taking a nature hike with a purpose. Whether playing alone or with a group of peers, disc golf aids in reducing stress, promotes individual growth, increases community engagement, and gives students a healthy lifetime activity to play. In addition, disc golf helps prevent childhood obesity. According to the CDC, the percentage of obese young people is 18.5%. Among low-income students, that percentage is higher at 18.9%. EDGE gives educators the ability to empower our youth with a low-cost, fun, accessible lifetime game.

EDGE has combined the fundamentals of disc golf with educational standards and objectives set forth by the National Association for Sports and Physical Education to create a disc golf curriculum. Our materials cater to a variety of learning styles and budgets. We make our high-end, comprehensive curriculum, equipment, and supply packages available at reasonable prices. Check out our packages here.

Who is eligible to receive an EDGE program?

EDGE is open to anyone looking to start or expand a youth-oriented disc golf program. We have helped community youth groups, schools, camps, churches, and Parks & Rec departments start disc golf education programs. EDGE has partnered with a number of colleges and universities to start educational methodology classes that teach our future teachers how to introduce disc golf. Our goal is to introduce every young person to the lifetime game of disc golf.

Does EDGE offer financial assistance?

Yes. Depending on the time of year and availability, EDGE offers mini-grants, matching grants, and other forms of financial assistance. We can often assist in the purchase of our curriculum packages and course creation. Funding assistance is mostly prioritized to youth groups and schools that are underfunded, but thanks to our wonderful corporate partners, all of our products are offered at discount pricing not found elsewhere.
